The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is low-cost, typically leaving little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pressed up the cost of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.

In an area that has among the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It’s established the Middle East’s first scheme to oil into biodiesel. It’s proving rewarding too, already their client-list contains McDonald’s.
