Producers transforming cooking oil into biodiesel presently benefit from a 20p differential but that is due to end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been meeting the UK sustainable biodiesel alliance.

Mr George said “a number of little services in Cornwall currently earn money from used cooking oil”.

He included: “In order to have the ability to get this type of market going it does require just a bit of lift which is available in the type of tax foregone.”
